Monica Coates

Ms. Coates is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and received a BFA in Dance Performance in December of 2003.  Her early training was at the Baltimore School for the Arts in Baltimore, Maryland.  She has danced professionally with the Synthesis Dance Project under the direction of Tracie Starnes as a part of the International Dance Festival in New York.  She performed Enact Oneself at  the International choreographers Commissioning Program at the American Dance Festival.  She was a guest dancer with Nicole Berger Dance Theatre in the production of Birdland performed at the Joyce Soho Theatre.

During the years of 2004-2005, Ms. Coates performed with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company 2 of Dayton, Ohio.  In 2006, she was lead dancer in the Earth and Me, a performance of the Shadowbox Theatre of New York.  In 2007, she danced with Sudden Enlightenment Company, and performed at the 10th Anniversary Performance at Symphony Space in New York.  In 2008, Ms. Coates was a non-equity ensemble dancer in the off Bradway production of Continental and she also performed at the North Shore Music Theatre under the direction of choreographer Susan Stroman.
